Rangers seeking first World Series title

ARLINGTON -- After winning 14 of their last 21 games to capture the American League West title in Game 162 of the regular season Sunday, the Rangers are back in the postseason for the first time since 2012.

The Rangers advance to the American League Division Series and will play the Blue Jays. The first two games are scheduled for Thursday (2:30 p.m. CT on FS1) and Friday at Rogers Centre in Toronto. The Rangers will host Games 3, and 4 (if necessary) on Sunday and Monday. A Game 5, if necessary, would be the following Wednesday in Toronto.

The Rangers have won the AL West in three of the last six years, and as they prepare for this postseason run, here is a quick look at their postseason history.

Last time made playoffs: The Rangers made it to the playoffs as one of the Wild Card teams in 2012 after a late-season collapse. But they lost to the Orioles, 5-1, in Arlington.

Last time won playoff series: The last time the Rangers had a postseason celebration was after they took down the Tigers in six games to win the 2011 AL Championship Series.

Last time won AL/NL: The Rangers were the AL champions in both 2010-11, taking the Yankees and the Tigers in six games.

Last time won World Series: The Rangers have never won the World Series. They lost to the Giants in five games in 2010 and seven games to the Tigers in '11.
