Giants promote Haines to farm director
SAN FRANCISCO -- Kyle Haines' promotion to farm director was the most significant move Wednesday as the Giants named their player development and Minor League affiliate staffs for 2019, the first year under president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi.
Haines replaces David Bell, who became manager of the Reds after one year with the Giants' front office. Last year, Haines served as the organization's assistant director of player development of instruction.
Haines, whose official title is director of player development, was named as the Eastern League's top managerial prospect in 2017 after a season with the Giants' Double-A Richmond affiliate. He spent the previous two seasons managing the Giants' Salem-Keizer affiliate in the Class A Short-Season Northwest League.
Haines' brother, Andy, is the Brewers' hitting coach.
