The Phillies reached a two-year extension with Kevin Long that will keep the longtime hitting coach with the reigning National League champs through 2025, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Saturday. The club has not confirmed the news.

Long, 55, is coming off his first season as the Phillies' hitting coach after previously serving in the role with the Nationals (2018-21), Mets (2015-17) and Yankees (2007-14).

Reunited with Long this season after spending a half-season with the hitting coach in Washington, Kyle Schwarber enjoyed the best season of his career, slugging 46 homers and driving in 94 runs in 155 games.

Long was originally part of former manager Joe Girardi's coaching staff with the Phillies and stayed on following Girardi's dismissal in June. Under new manager Rob Thomson, the Phillies advanced to their first World Series since 2009.
