Maeda placed on injured list with contusion
Infielder Beaty, outfielder Garlick called up from Triple-A
Kenta Maeda has been rolling for the Dodgers, but his next start will have to wait a bit after he was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left adductor contusion.
The IL stint will halt what has been a terrific run for the 31-year-old, who reportedly suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his thigh during an at-bat on Wednesday.
Maeda struck out a season-high 12 batters over 6 2/3 innings against the Padres in that game, which was his second straight scoreless outing. The right-hander is 5-2 with a 3.51 ERA over 51 1/3 innings in 2019.
The Dodgers also recalled infielder Matt Beaty and selected the contract of outfielder Kyle Garlick from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday. Los Angeles had an open spot on its 25-man roster when it optioned catcher Rocky Gale and right-hander JT Chargois to Triple-A on Thursday and activated left-hander Caleb Ferguson from the injured list, so an additional move was not needed to add both Beaty and Garlick after placing Maeda on the IL.
