Dunn has sore ribs after comeback liner
August 18th, 2020
Mariners right-hander Justin Dunn exited after two innings with sore ribs in Monday’s 11-9 loss to the Dodgers. The injury is not considered serious, and Dunn should be able to make his next start.
The rib injury occurred in the first inning, when Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager hit a 99.5 mph comeback liner that got Dunn in the rib area. Dunn was able to hold onto the ball for the first out of the inning. After the trainer and manager Scott Servais went to see if Dunn was OK, he stayed in the game and allowed six runs in two innings, but received a no-decision.
It didn’t help that Dunn had problems throwing his breaking ball. As he put it, the injury put the slider out of play.
“That was the only pitch I felt [the pain on],” Dunn said.
