Tomlin returns to Braves on 1-yr deal
Right-hander Josh Tomlin is returning to the Braves on a one-year, $1 million contract for 2021 that includes a $1.25 million club option for ‘22, the club announced Wednesday.
After struggling mightily at the end of his tenure with the Indians, Tomlin has enjoyed a career resurgence since signing with the Braves prior to the 2019 season. The 36-year-old has gone 4-3 with a 4.08 ERA across 68 appearances (all but six of them coming out of the bullpen) across the last two campaigns. Tomlin finished '20 with a 4.76 ERA in 39 2/3 innings, making five straight starts across late August and early September while the National League East champion Braves dealt with injuries to their rotation.
The 2021 season will mark Tomlin’s 12th year in the Majors. He owns a 65-56 record and a 4.69 ERA in his career, and he helped the Indians reach the World Series in '16.
