NEW YORK -- Twins infielder Jose Miranda is one of the best rookies in the Major Leagues. But he isn’t the only member of his family who is famous. His cousin happens to be Lin-Manuel Miranda, the actor/playwright/flimmaker who created the musical "Hamilton." 

Lin-Manuel was planning to watch his cousin play live for the first time at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the game was postponed because of inclement weather.

No big deal. The cousins ended up having dinner later that night at Bocaditos Bistro in New York City. While they were enjoying dinner, Lin-Manuel, who is also known for his work on “In the Heights” and "Encanto," informed Jose that he would not be able to attend the last three games of the four-game series against New York.

“I’m fine with it. He has some stuff to do and I know that,” said Jose, who hit a two-run homer in the first inning of the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader. “It would have been fun for him to be part of the crowd. It’s fine. We got rained out yesterday. There is nothing we can do about it.”

Jose said he's proud of his cousin, who has won Grammy and Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize, among his career achievements.

“He has done some great stuff and it’s awesome to see [what he accomplished],” Jose said.

Asked if he saw "Hamilton," Jose acknowledged that he never saw the play. But Lin-Manuel had some advice for his younger cousin.

“We were talking about it yesterday. He was joking and he told me, ‘Hey, you got to see it. I know everybody is asking you. So you got to see it.' So yeah, I’m going to see it one day.”
