KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Jon Singleton nearly doubled his hit total for the spring Wednesday afternoon, driving in all three of the Astros' runs in a 7-3 loss to the Tigers.
Singleton, who entered the day hitting .103 with just three hits, went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.
"It was nice to see him have a good day," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "He's worked pretty hard and he hasn't had a day like this yet, but obviously he's got it in him. To have him see some success today, it was a nice fresh start for him for the rest of camp."

The first baseman got things rolling in the sixth inning, when he hit a double to the right-field wall off Michael Fulmer to drive in Eury Perez and Danny Worth.
Singleton got a hold of a Drake Britton pitch and sent it over the right-field wall to open the ninth. It was Singleton's second home run of the spring.
For Singleton, the strong day at the plate is something he and the Astros hope will spark an upward trend.
"I had two consecutive really good at-bats," Singleton said. "You kind of feel out what you did right, you kind of just carry it over to the next at-bat or the next day. Today was a good day."
