Cubs bring back TV duo of Sciambi, Deshaies for 2022 and beyond

February 15th, 2022

CHICAGO -- When Jon Sciambi joined the Cubs' television broadcast team as the new play-by-play voice last winter, he said he wanted to be where baseball mattered. Sciambi felt Wrigley Field more than fit that description.

And the Friendly Confines is where Sciambi -- affectionately known as "Boog" -- will be staying for 2022 and beyond. On Tuesday, Marquee Sports Network announced that it had reached multiyear extensions with both Sciambi and color commentator Jim Deshaies to remain together as the team's TV duo.

"I could not be more excited to continue being part of both the Marquee and Cubs families going forward," Sciambi said in a release. "There is nothing better than calling Wrigley Field home and broadcasting for the best fans in the game."

Sciambi joined Marquee's broadcast team in January 2021, following Len Kasper's move from the Cubs' booth to the radio team for the White Sox on the South Side. Sciambi has also worked with ESPN dating back to 2010, serving as the voice of Sunday Night Baseball for ESPN radio. Prior to the Cubs, Sciambi also called games for the Marlins (1997-2004) and Braves (2007-09).

Deshaies is entering his 10th season in the booth for Cubs games, following 16 seasons in the same color role for the Astros. Deshaies spent 12 seasons in the Majors as a lefty pitcher for six organizations from 1984-95.

"I'm thrilled to continue my relationship with Marquee Sports Network and the Cubs," Deshaies said in a release. "This has been and continues to be a dream job for me and it is a joy to saddle up alongside Boog."

The details of the extensions for Sciambi and Deshaies were not disclosed.

"Boog and JD have been a superb pairing for us and we're excited to have them continue leading our game broadcasts moving forward," Mike Santini, Marquee Sports Network's senior vice president of programming and production, said in a statement.

"The Cubs' broadcast booth has always been extremely important to Cubs fans, and we’re proud to have Boog and JD continuing this legacy."
