All aboard: 435-foot HR hits moving train

June 5th, 2021

This baseball choo-choo-chose to exit stage left.

Red Sox farmhand Johan Mieses channeled his best Nelson Cruz impression, sending a home run off a nearby train beyond the left-field wall for Triple-A Worcester. His blast travelled a whopping 435 feet and may have ended up in the hands of a local rail worker at the train’s next stop.

Mieses went 3-for-5 on the day, adding two singles and two runs scored to go along with his solo homer. The moonshot was Mieses' 12th of the season between Double-A Portland and Triple-A, tying him with Jo Adell of the Salt Lake Bees for the Minor League lead. Mieses' performance fueled the WooSox to a 12-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings.
