D-backs designated hitter has declined his part of a mutual option for 2025 and will become a free agent, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers. The team has not confirmed the move.

Pederson, 32, produced a strong season for Arizona in 2024, hitting .275 with 23 homers and a .908 OPS in 132 games. He signed a one-year, $9.5 million deal with the D-backs before the season that included a $14 million mutual option for 2025.

Though he has historically been mostly an outfielder, Pederson was a full-time DH in 2024 after having been primarily a DH (79 games) for the Giants in '23. He's not played more than 38 games in the field since '22.

Pederson, who turns 33 on April 21, is a two-time All-Star and a career .241 hitter with 209 homers and an .811 OPS in 11 seasons with the Dodgers, Cubs, Braves, Giants and D-backs. He was part of World Series championship teams in Los Angeles (2020) and Atlanta ('21) and has a career .814 postseason OPS.
