Yankees activate Jazz after minimum stay on IL

’s optimism turned out to be well founded.

Soon after he was placed on the injured list with a sprained left elbow, Chisholm stressed that he could return to action after his 10 days on the IL were up.

Friday marked the end of that 10-day period and, sure enough, the Yankees have activated Chisholm from the injured list. Infielder Oswald Peraza had been optioned after the Yankees’ 6-0 victory over the Guardians on Thursday to clear a roster spot.

The 26-year-old hopes to pick up where he left off at the plate, as he slashed .316/.361/.702 in his first 14 games with New York prior to injuring his elbow on a head-first slide into home plate against the White Sox on Aug. 12.

Acquired in a trade with the Marlins on July 27, Chisholm set a franchise record for hitting seven homers in his first 12 games with the Yankees.

Chisholm returns to the club ahead of Friday's series opener in the Bronx against the Rockies. At 75-53, the Yanks own the best record in the American League and are 1 1/2 games ahead of the Orioles in the AL East after winning Thursday’s rubber match against the Guardians at Yankee Stadium.
