Jays Care Curve Ball

On Monday night, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Jays Care Foundation, held their annual Curve Ball event to raise money towards funding and operating programs that inspire children to get active, stay in school and be part of a team. The event included a dinner, a live auction and, of course, featured the Blue Jays players in suit. What more could you ask for?

“We just want to raise as much money as we possibly can as it is for a tremendous cause,” said Jays Care Foundation Executive Director Rob Drynan. “This event is our biggest one yet. Our programs are continuing to grow all across Canada, so we have a lot of ground to cover!”

Attendees got the chance to sit with a player and meet other players as they mingled throughout the Rogers Centre, giving them the opportunity to learn more about the player behind the uniform. The foundation also held a live auction, and one of the most-unique items included a private 30-minute knuckleball/pitching session with R.A. Dickey.

”Dickey and the other players already do so much for our organization, including donating part of their pay check to our cause, so this charity is as much theirs as it is anyone else’s,” Drynan said.

Liz Holmes, one of the event's attendees, also shared how wonderful the event was. "I had the time of my life," the long-time Blue Jays supporter said. "I was able to speak with many of the players and really enjoyed the event! I can't wait to go back again next year!”

One should be excited to attend the event next year, but without a doubt, this year will be hard to top! Congratulations to all of those involved.
