Vertigo knocks Cosart out of Triple-A start

PHILADELPHIA -- Jarred Cosart, making a start for Triple-A New Orleans on Friday night, exited after 1 1/3 innings due to a bout with vertigo.

The 25-year-old who opened the season as the Marlins' fifth starter, spent time earlier in the season on the disabled with the same condition.

Cosart was replaced with one out in the second against Colorado Springs at New Orleans. He gave up three runs in the inning.

Cosart went 1-4 with a 5.36 ERA in nine games, with eight starts, for Miami before being sent down. The Marlins placed him on the DL on May 18 when he initially was bothered by vertigo.

Cosart was optioned to New Orleans on July 5, a day after he gave up seven runs in 1 2/3 innings against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
