Father and son: Karros makes Dad proud with strong showing
There are few things more synonymous with baseball than the relationships between fathers and sons. Heck, that’s basically the entire plot of the famed baseball movie "Field of Dreams."
As Jared Karros took the mound for the Dodgers on Tuesday at Angel Stadium, his father Eric -- a former Dodger who spent 14 years in the Majors -- wasn’t just in attendance for the game. He was in the broadcast booth for the Dodgers flagship radio station.
With Eric looking on, Jared was beyond impressive in front of a crowd of 44,377 fans. The 23-year-old struck out four Angels batters in two innings of work. At the end of each scoreless inning, Eric looked on with pure, unadulterated joy as his son dominated on a MLB mound.
Karros -- a 16th-round pick by the Dodgers in the 2022 Draft -- had a 3.44 ERA in 83 2/3 innings combined between Single-A and High-A last season. If Tuesday’s performance was any indication, Karros could find his way to the Majors soon, much to his dad’s excitement.
