SEATTLE -- clubbed a two-run homer off former teammate Ryne Stanek in the seventh inning to put the Astros ahead and send them on their way to a 4-2 win over the Mariners on Saturday night at T-Mobile Park.

The Astros moved one game ahead of Seattle in the American League West race, while stretching their lead over the third-place Rangers to six games. Houston is 27-13 since June 1, which is the best record in baseball in that span.

Meyers, who was hitless in his first six at-bats post-All-Star break, stroked a 1-2 fastball from Stanek and sailed it into the seats in right-center to put Houston ahead, 3-2. Astros catcher Yainer Diaz added a solo homer in the eighth off reliever Trent Thornton that hit the top of the fence and went over.

Meyers’ homer, which was his career-high 11th of the season, came one inning after Mariners slugger Julio Rodríguez put Seattle ahead, 2-1, with a two-run homer off Astros starter Framber Valdez.

Valdez carried a shutout into the sixth inning before he walked Victor Robles and then hung a curveball to Rodríguez, who belted it over the left-field wall to break Seattle’s 14-inning scoreless streak against the Astros. Valdez was pulled after a two-out walk in the sixth, and Tayler Scott recorded the final out of the inning to get the win.
