deGrom, Harvey to follow Thor in rotation
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The Mets announced their opening-series rotation on Wednesday, revealing that Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey will follow Noah Syndergaard against the Braves at Citi Field.
After Syndergaard opens the Mets' season on Monday opposite Braves right-hander Julio Teheran, deGrom will face former teammate Bartolo Colon two days later. Harvey will then wrap up the three-game series opposite left-hander Jaime Garcia on Thursday.
The Mets have yet to announce the rest of their rotation, in part because they are waiting to see how quickly Steven Matz recovers from left elbow soreness. If Matz is able to pitch, he and Robert Gsellman would be heavy favorites to round out the rotation. Otherwise, Gsellman, Zack Wheeler and Seth Lugo would all be candidates for the final two spots.
