Injured Reds DSL players sent to US hospital
Two survivors of crash that killed Capellan being treated in Miami
CINCINNATI -- Two Reds Minor League players were transferred to an American hospital after being involved in a car accident that killed a third player in the Dominican Republic.
The club revealed that pitcher Raul Hernandez and outfielder Emilio Garcia were moved to a hospital in Miami, Fla., for further evaluation. Hernandez, who was critically injured in the wreck, was admitted into the trauma intensive care unit.
On Saturday, teammate Jairo Capellan died in the tragic car crash that happened in Boca Chica. Capellan's funeral was held on Sunday.
The Reds held a moment of silence for Capellan before the start of a party that highlighted plans for their 150th anniversary celebration.
All three players are 19 years old and played for the Reds' Dominican Summer League club.
