Indians extend non-roster invites to 20 players
CLEVELAND -- Now that both Matt Joyce and Alex Wilson have passed their physicals and are officially members of the Indians' organization, Cleveland expects 60 players to arrive at Major League Spring Training camp next week.
On top of the team's full 40-man roster, each of whom earns an automatic invite to camp, the Indians extended non-roster invitations to 20 players, including A.J. Cole, who cleared waivers on Monday after being designated for assignment on Feb. 4. He has been outrighted to Triple-A Columbus. While some players like Joyce, Wilson and Ryan Flaherty have legitimate chances to compete for a Major League roster spot, others will be taking in the opportunity to experience working around the big league club.
