Stint with O's brief, Harvey returned to Double-A
Orioles top pitching prospect Hunter Harvey is headed back to Double-A Bowie.
Baltimore optioned Harvey, the club's No. 4 prospect per MLBPipeline, to Bowie and recalled infielder Engelb Vielma from Triple-A Norfolk to take his place on the roster.
Harvey, recalled Monday as the O's needed pitching depth following a slew of extra-inning contests, did not appear in a big league game.
The 23-year-old Harvey is 7-8 with a 2.56 ERA and 187 strikeouts in 144 1/3 innings throughout his career in the Minor Leagues. He has thrown just 18 2/3 frames in the Minors since undergoing Tommy John surgery in July 2016.
Vielma, 23, is batting .125/.300/.375 with a triple and two runs scored in three games for Norfolk in 2018. He is a career .256/.316/.303 hitter over seven Minor League seasons. His first appearance with the Orioles will mark his Major League debut.
