ARLINGTON -- Construction continues across the street on Globe Life Field and another big step was finished on Tuesday.

The final piece of the west roof truss has been installed. Located on the southwestern portion of the site, the final piece weighs 865,000 pounds

Together, all three pieces of the west truss weigh 2.4 million pounds and total 630 feet in length. Work continues on the roof, which will use an estimated 19,000 tons of steel to complete. Installation for the east roof truss will begin late next week.

Globe Field Field will include a retractable roof and an artificial playing surface among many other state-of-art amenities. The $1.2 billion facility is scheduled to be ready for Opening Day 2020.
