NEW YORK – Mets shortstop put himself in the record books on Wednesday afternoon. By hitting his 25th home run of the season, Lindor became the first shortstop in Major League history to hit 25 home runs and steal 25 bases in a season three times. He previously accomplished this last season with the Mets and in 2018 with Cleveland.

Lindor is also one of three active players with three seasons of 25-plus homers and 25-plus steals on his ledger, joining Mike Trout and José Ramírez.

Lindor already had 25 steals when he came to the plate in the third inning, swung at a 1-1 pitch from left-hander Cole Irvin and hit the ball over the right-center-field fence for his 25th home run of the season, which gave New York a 1-0 lead en route to its eventual 4-3 walk-off win.
