Florida State is one win away from claiming the Women's College World Series title after the No. 10-ranked Seminoles defeated top-seeded Oklahoma, 8-4, in Game 1 of the best-of-three series in Oklahoma City.

Freshman right fielder Kalei Harding was the star for Florida State, collecting three hits and driving in four runs out of the No. 9 spot. After throwing out a runner at third base to complete a double play in the bottom of the second, Harding broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the top of the third. She added a two-run double to extend the lead to 4-0 in the fourth. That ignited a five-run fourth inning that staked FSU to a seven-run lead.

Kinzie Hansen and Nicole Mendes answered with back-to-back homers in the fourth to get Oklahoma on the board. The Sooners made a late push in the sixth inning, with Mackenzie Donihoo ripping a two-run single to close the gap to three. Oklahoma sent the potential tying run to the plate later that inning, but pinch-hitter Grace Green grounded out on a hot-shot to second base to end the threat.

Game 2 is set for 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday on ESPN, with Florida State eyeing its second Women's College World Series title (the first came in 2018). Top-seeded Oklahoma, meanwhile, will need to win back-to-back games to claim the championship.
