Fenway Park will host the 2023 NHL Winter Classic, and the hometown Boston Bruins will be one of the teams participating, the NHL announced Friday. It will be the second time the home of the Red Sox has played host to the event -- the Bruins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime, 2-1, at Fenway in 2010. 

This year's game was played on New Year's Day at Target Field in Minnesota, where the St. Louis Blues defeated the Minnesota Wild, 6-4, with the temperature at puck drop reading -5.7 degrees Fahrenheit.

The 2023 Winter Classic will mark the fifth regular season outdoor game for the Bruins, as well as the 15th anniversary of the first Winter Classic, which was played in Buffalo in 2008. 

The Bruins' opponent for next year's Winter Classic, as well as broadcast information and a specific date, will be announced when available.
