Milwaukee Brewers Kindness in MKE

June 20, 2024

The Milwaukee Brewers annual #KindnessInMKE initiative returned Friday, May 31 where all players and front office staff members went beyond the diamond, surprising individuals and charities in the metro Milwaukee area with random acts of kindness.

This is the eighth consecutive year the Brewers have dedicated to the initiative to find meaningful and personal opportunities to impact the Milwaukee community and pay it forward. The Brewers and Brewers Community Foundation donated more than $50,000 to organizations and individuals during this year’s effort.

Brewers players were spotted in various locations throughout Milwaukee making contributions to their local community. All-Star Christian Yelich and infielder Brice Turang greeted unsuspecting shoppers at Pick N’ Save, and paid for their bills. Many customers experienced Yelich scanning their grocery items and Turang bagging them. Some were even lucky enough to find a Brewers game ticket voucher tucked in their grocery bags.

Across the city, players Bryan Hudson, Trevor Megill and Bryse Wilson visited Engine No. 33 of the Milwaukee Fire Department with hands full of groceries to support the Milwaukee firefighters. The trio received a treat of their own as they got to participate in making homemade fire house pizza with the firefighters, a Milwaukee fire station tradition. The firefighters taught them not only how to roll dough, but also about the challenging work they lead.

Hudson, Megill and Wilson earned a final special treat as they received a tour of Engine No. 33 including taking a ride in the fire engine.

Even more Brewers players were seen in action throughout Milwaukee spreading kindness and surprises. Devin Williams visited a barbershop in the city to pay for haircuts, Freddy Peralta stopped by his Starbucks to hand out tips to the employees who make his daily treat, DL Hall roamed through grocery aisles handing out surprises and Holby Milner paid a visit to Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin to make a donation.

It wasn’t just Brewers players going beyond the diamond during #KindnessInMKE, but also members of the front office staff. Front office members teamed up and spread kindness through meaningful contributions. Some members visited various locations to cover meals or coffee including Brewers Owner Mark Attanasio who visited several Milwaukee Public Market vendors and paid customers’ bills. Additionally, donations were made to organizations such as United Community Center, Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, First Tee – Southeast Wisconsin, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight and plenty more.

The Milwaukee Brewers and BCF #KindnessInMKE initiative aims to spread joy throughout the community of Milwaukee and is part of the Club’s ongoing efforts to go “Beyond the Diamond” to positively impact the community.
