Pastore critically injured in motorcycle accident

Former Major Leaguer Frank Pastore is in critical condition after he was injured in a motorcycle accident on the 210 Freeway in California on Monday night, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

"Last night, Frank Pastore was in a motorcycle accident," read a statement from the website of radio station KKLA in Glendale, Calif., where Pastore hosts a radio show. "We do not know how extensive his injuries are, but we know they are serious. Please keep him and his family in your prayers."

The right-hander, who was drafted by the Reds in the second round in 1975, had a career record of 48-58 through eight seasons with the Reds (1979-85) and the Twins ('86). He has been hosting "The Frank Pastore Show" at KKLA since 2004.

According to the report, California Highway Patrol officials said a woman was driving a Hyundai Sonata eastbound when she lost control of her car, drifted into the carpool lane and hit Pastore.

Pastore, 55, was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered severe head trauma. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
