Smith Jr. expected to rejoin Orioles in Seattle
OAKLAND -- Orioles outfielder Dwight Smith Jr., who has been sidelined by concussion-like symptoms, is expected to rejoin the team in Seattle when the team begins a four-game series there on Thursday, Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde said Wednesday.
Smith, 26, went on the seven-day concussion injury list on June 7. One day earlier, Smith was sidelined after colliding with the outfield wall while trying to make a catch at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
Smith made a rehab appearance with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He has compiled a .249/.296/.462 slash line while amassing 11 home runs and 41 RBIs in 59 games.
Hyde hinted that besides reinstating Smith, the ballclub might adjust the personnel on its pitching staff as the series with the Mariners starts.
