LA claims Somsen off waivers from Yanks
Tsao moved to 60-day disabled list
LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers claimed right-handed pitcher Layne Somsen off waivers from the Yankees on Wednesday and transferred Chin-hui Tsao (triceps) to the 60-day disabled list.
Somsen will be with his third organization of 2016, having started the season with Cincinnati before being claimed by the Yankees on May 24. He allowed five earned runs in 2 1/3 innings with the Reds in the first Major League action of his career.
Somsen is likely to be assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. In a combined 25 innings with Triple-A Louisville and Scranton Wilkes-Barre this year, Somsen struck out 29 and yielded a 1.44 ERA. He was originally drafted in the 22nd round of the '13 Draft out of South Dakota State.
Tsao had been on the 15-day DL since May 23 with a right triceps strain. In two appearances with the Dodgers this season, he allowed a hit and three walks.
