DENVER -- After eight seasons and nearly 1,000 Minor League games, Kyle Jensen finally got the news he'd been dreaming about since he was a little kid.
Jensen, 28, had his contract selected from Triple-A Reno on Saturday after hitting .289 with 30 homers and 120 RBIs for the Aces this year.
Originally drafted in the 12th round by the Marlins in 2009, the infielder/outfielder signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent during the offseason. Reno manager Phil Nevin broke the news to Jensen during a team meeting where he praised the team for its efforts during the season.
"I kind of just turned around, because I had my back to him a little bit," Jensen said. "And I was like, 'What?' And he goes, 'You're going up,' and everyone went crazy. It means everything. It's everything you work for. I'm just happy to get the opportunity to come up here and be with the team."

Jensen's first phone call went to his mom, but it was answered by his sister. After he told her the news, she put him on speaker phone and he informed his parents at the same time. The three of them, along with Jensen's girlfriend, traveled to Denver in time for Saturday night's game against the Rockies.
"I've always believed," Jensen said. "Every year I've been going out there and playing hard and just put a lot of work in, and I was always telling myself, 'You'll get a chance sometime.' It's been like a year-to-year process, and every year you just want to go out and improve from the next. This year was one of my better years that I've had and I was at the right place at the right time. I'm just happy to be here."
