Williams introduces 'Airbender Ale,' available at American Family Field

September 12th, 2023

MILWAUKEE -- Ryan Braun’s mom was a real-life brewer (for a rival to the Brewers’ friends at Miller) long before the Brewers drafted her son. Eric Thames, Corey Knebel and Oliver Drake took a break from their jobs with the Brewers' team to serve as part-time brewers in 2017 for a limited-edition ale sold at the ballpark.

Now is the first Brewer to moonlight as a brewer right here in-house, with his “Airbender Ale” set to go on sale beginning with Sunday’s homestand finale against the Nationals.

Williams is the first Brewers player to brew up his own beer at J. Leinenkugel’s Barrel Yard at American Family Field with pilot brewer Corrine Georges. The exclusive brew, a limited release that will only be available in a 16 oz. pour, is the result of Williams’ collaboration with Georges on a beer of his choice, in this case a blonde ale. Williams submitted his “wish list” for style, taste, appearance and aroma to Georges, and together they began the production phase at the onsite brewery with Williams assisting by -- appropriately for an All-Star closer -- pitching the yeast for his brew.

To celebrate the start of sales, Brewers GM Matt Arnold will work the bar at J. Leinenkugel’s Barrel Yard on Sunday from 11:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. with Brewers alum Jerry Augustine and president of business operations Rick Schlesinger. The first 250 fans to purchase the new release will receive an Airbender Ale sticker.
