DeSclafani suspended 3 games; Fiers fined for incident
Marlins pitcher Anthony DeSclafani has received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing a pitch at Carlos Gomez of the Brewers, with a warning in place, in the bottom of the sixth inning of Thursday's game at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Joe Garagiola, Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards & Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
DeSclafani's suspension had been scheduled to begin tonight, when the Marlins are to open their road series against the Philadelphia Phillies. However, he has elected to appeal. Thus, DeSclafani's suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
In addition, Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers has received an undisclosed fine for his actions, which contributed to the benches clearing.
