TAMPA, Fla. -- One day after responding to comments made by Yankees president Randy Levine, Dellin Betances said he had "no regrets" after participating in the team's first full-squad workout Sunday at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
"I'm in a good mindset. I feel good in that area," Betances said. "I don't regret anything I said [Saturday]. I had to get it off my chest and I did. I'm just trying to put it behind me. I'm back with the guys and I feel at ease when I'm here practicing."

Betances had taken exception to some of Levine's comments, specifically that he had become "a victim" of agent Jim Murray's attempt to challenge the arbitration system's view of elite setup relievers. A three-person panel awarded Betances a $3 million salary for 2017 rather than the $5 million he had requested.

The final contract discussions between Betances and the Yankees had been held in December, with the sides being unable to bridge the $2 million gap. Betances said he tried to broker a deal at the last minute before the hearing, which was held on Friday at the Vinoy Renaissance hotel in St. Petersburg, Fla.
"All I know is when I went in that room, I looked them in the eye and said, 'We don't have to be in this room,'" Betances said. "I told [general manager Brian] Cashman that, I told Randy Levine that, I told Jim that. I said, 'We don't have to be in this room.'"
In the day that followed, the right-hander said that he has received a good deal of support via phone calls and text messages from people around the game. He acknowledged that there was still some residual feelings as he put the pinstripes on for the workout.
"It's not as easy. You're not just going to get over it as easy," Betances said. "I'm not going to sit here and say that today is a different day for me. I was just glad I was able to come out here and get some work done and that kind of takes some of the stress off your mind."
"I talked to him a couple times since I've seen him on Saturday, so ... My thought on Dellin, and I said it [Saturday] … it just happened [Saturday] and everything is fresh in his mind," manager Joe Girardi said Sunday. "This kid is a fierce competitor. This kid is a great teammate. This kid has always given us everything he has, and I think he'll continue to do that. I'm not really concerned about that. I think sometimes you get in a certain situation and then it's fresh. And you have to sort through your emotions as a person, as a player. He'll do that, and I think he'll be just fine."
Betances said that he does not feel any need to speak to Levine. He would prefer to focus on getting ready for the World Baseball Classic, as he is slated to depart March 5 to join the Dominican Republic squad.
"I'll throw probably BP on Wednesday, and then I'll try to see if I can get in a game," Betances said. "I'll be in a game earlier than last year, but I did a lot of stuff when I was in the Dominican Republic. I've already faced hitters, so I feel good. It's just about building arm strength now."
