DENVER -- Orioles starting pitcher Dean Kremer sustained a right forearm contusion when he was hit by a 103.1 mph line drive off the bat of the Rockies’ Jordan Beck in the fourth inning Saturday night at Coors Field.

The ball ricocheted high in the air and bounced into the glove of shortstop Gunnar Henderson, who flipped to second base to force out baserunner Nolan Jones.

There was immediate and substantial swelling on Kremer’s forearm. After being checked on by manager Brandon Hyde and medical staff, the right-hander came out of the game. The club announced that X-rays were negative.

The Orioles trailed, 3-0, at that point. Beck came around to score in the inning, giving Kremer a final line of four runs on six hits and a walk, with three strikeouts.
