Dahl exits game with left foot contusion
DENVER – Rockies All-Star outfielder David Dahl left Wednesday afternoon’s 11-8 loss to the Giants at Coors Field with a left foot contusion after fouling a pitch off his foot in the first inning. X-rays were negative and he is day to day.
Dahl stayed in to play defensively in the second, but Rockies manager Bud Black replaced him with Garrett Hampson in the third.
In the first, Dahl suffered the injury when a pitch from Giants starter Shaun Anderson skimmed off his bat and hit his back (left) foot. Dahl crumpled to the dirt, then took a long period of walking, standing on his toes and, finally, running. Dahl finished his at-bat and would walk but not score.
On May 30 of last year -- also against the Giants -- Dahl fouled a pitch off his right foot, suffered a fracture, and missed 54 games.
In his first year as a regular in the Rockies outfield, Dahl is batting .303 with 13 home runs and 54 RBIs. After contributing a single for the National League in the All-Star Game and going 4-for-12 with a home run and a double against the Reds in the first three-game series following the break, Dahl went 1-for-9 with four strikeouts in the four games against the Giants.
