Hall reportedly close to extension with D-backs
President/CEO would remain with club through 2024
PHOENIX -- The D-backs are close to signing president/CEO Derrick Hall to a new contract, expected to keep Hall with Arizona through 2024, according to a report by the Arizona Republic on Wednesday.
"We have been discussing [a deal] for several months. I am thrilled, because this is home and there is nowhere else I'd like to be," Hall said in a statement. "We have created an award-winning culture and I am very proud of our accomplishments on the business side and the treatment and experience we provide the fans. The gap between winning years is obviously our most critical concern and we will fix that."
Hall became the team's president in 2006. He became CEO of the D-backs two-and-a-half years later.
Hall has overseen baseball operations since the start of 2009 and since then, the D-backs have gone through two front-office regimes. Former general managers Josh Byrnes and Kevin Towers, and current GM Dave Stewart have served under Hall.
Stewart and chief baseball officer Tony La Russa both have contracts expiring at the end of the year, so more personnel decisions will be made.
