D-backs announce roster for NLDS vs. Dodgers

October 7th, 2023

LOS ANGELES -- The D-backs tweaked their roster ever so slightly for the National League Division Series, adding left-hander Kyle Nelson in place of right-hander Bryce Jarvis.

Nelson was left off the NL Wild Card Series roster in what manager Torey Lovullo called a tough decision, but the D-backs wanted to make sure they had some length in the bullpen with Jarvis.

The Dodgers have some dangerous left-handed hitters in their lineup, including Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Jason Heyward and David Peralta, which explains why Arizona would want to add another lefty to its bullpen.

The only other question mark was whether catcher Gabriel Moreno would be healthy after being struck in the head by a backswing in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series, but he appears to be fine.

Here is the D-backs’ full roster:

Catchers: Gabriel Moreno, Jose Herrera

Infielders: Christian Walker, Ketel Marte, Geraldo Perdomo, Emmanuel Rivera, Jordan Lawler, Evan Longoria, Jace Peterson, Pavin Smith

Outfielders: Corbin Carroll, Alek Thomas, Tommy Pham, Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Pitchers: Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Brandon Pfaadt, Ryne Nelson, Paul Sewald, Kevin Ginkel, Andrew Saalfrank, Ryan Thompson, Kyle Nelson, Miguel Castro, Joe Mantiply, Luis Frías
