Cubs' World Series trophy going on tour
Cubs fans throughout Chicago and the Midwest will get a chance to see the Commissioner's Trophy up close during the Cubs Trophy Tour.
The event begins Friday at the new official Cubs Team Store on Michigan Avenue, temporarily located at 663 N. Michigan Ave. Fans will be able to take pictures with the trophy from noon-3 p.m. CT.
"We're excited to share our cherished trophy with fans this offseason as we celebrate such a historic World Series championship," Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said. "This year's world championship team is unparalleled, and so are our fans. We can't wait for them to experience the joy of seeing this piece of history in person."
The Chicago portion of the tour continues Dec. 15 at Chicago City Hall from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The full slate of stops has yet to be announced, but fans can find details at cubs.com/trophytour or by following the club's Twitter and Instagram accounts.
The trophy also will be on display throughout the Midwest. Other Illinois stops include Bloomington, Champaign, Freeport, Peoria, the Quad Cities, Rockford and Springfield.
Stops also include Indianapolis, Ind., and Des Moines, Iowa, as well as other cities in Indiana and Iowa. The trophy will be in Mesa, Ariz., during Spring Training, and it will return to Chicago for the club's home opener on April 10.
