PITTSBURGH -- The Cubs' Anthony Rizzo thought he hit his third leadoff home run in as many games in Friday's 9-5 win over the Pirates when he launched the third pitch of the game over the right-field seats, but after a crew chief review, it was determined that the ball went foul. That was all of the game that Cubs manager Joe Maddon got to see as he was ejected by crew chief Jeff Kellogg.
After Rizzo hit the pitch from the Pirates' Trevor Williams to right, he trotted around the bases. However, the umpires consulted and said the ball went foul. Maddon argued, and they eventually reviewed it.
Maddon continued his discussion with Kellogg after the review, and the third-base umpire then signaled that the manager had been tossed. It's Maddon's first ejection this season.

Rizzo ended up with a walk, but was later forced out at third. The last player to lead off three straight games with a home run was Brady Anderson in 1996.
The weirdness continued before the Pirates' first as Cubs starter Eddie Butler needed to have the long white sleeves of his undershirt on the throwback uniform cut. The umpires conferred and athletic trainer PJ Mainville came to the mound and cut them with scissors.
