Mets lose Christian Scott (right UCL sprain) to IL

The Mets absorbed a big blow to their starting rotation on Tuesday, when they placed rookie right-hander on the 15-day IL, retroactive to July 22, with a right UCL sprain.

Scott had gone 0-3 with a 4.56 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in his first nine MLB starts since debuting on May 4. Despite a solid showing in his first five starts, the Mets returned him to Tripe-A in June to help manage his innings load before bringing him back to the Majors on July 3. He last pitched on Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits over four innings in Miami.

Left-hander Alex Young was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.
