Chipper Jones to replace Matt Kemp on NL All-Star roster
Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones has been named by 2012 National League All-Star manager Tony La Russa to replace Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers on the N.L.’s active roster for the 83rd All-Star Game, Major League Baseball announced today.
Kemp, who was elected as a starter by the fans for a second consecutive year, has been on the disabled since May 31st with a left hamstring strain and will be inactive for the Midsummer Classic.
Jones, who was a candidate on the N.L.’s 2012 All-Star Game MLB.com Final Vote sponsored by Firestone, is now an All-Star for the eighth time in his career. The 40-year-old is batting .291 with six home runs and 29 RBI over 45 games played this season.

The 2012 All-Star Game will be played at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday, July 10th. The 83rd All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 200 countries via MLB International’s independent feed.
