Here are the White Sox 2024 Top 30 prospects

March 5th, 2024

The White Sox won't remember 2023 fondly after losing 101 games, their most in 53 seasons, and dismissing executive vice president Kenny Williams and GM Rick Hahn in August. But the good news for their future is that their farm system saw a dramatic influx of talent.

Our new Chicago Top 30 Prospects list features 17 players who weren't members of the organization at the start of last year, including 11 of the first 17. The system has gone from one of baseball's thinnest to the middle of the pack, and the White Sox have the opportunity for more upward mobility with the potential of trading more veterans for youngsters and the No. 5 overall choice in the 2024 Draft.

The farm makeover began in July, when Chicago snared shortstop Jacob Gonzalez, right-handers Grant Taylor and Seth Keener and outfielder George Wolkow in the Draft. At the Trade Deadline, the White Sox shipped out Jake Burger, Lucas Giolito, Kendall Graveman, Joe Kelly, Lance Lynn, Reynaldo López and Keynan Middleton for seven prospects, most notably catcher Edgar Quero, righty Nick Nastrini and left-hander Jake Eder.

Former assistant GM and farm director Chris Getz has continued to add prospects since getting promoted to GM in late August. He claimed righty Alex Speas on waivers in September, popped lefty Shane Drohan in the Rule 5 Draft in December and dealt for outfielders Dominican Fletcher and Zack DeLoach and righty Prelander Berroa in February.

Here’s a look at the White Sox top prospects:
1. Colson Montgomery, SS (MLB No. 9)
2. Noah Schultz, LHP (MLB No. 50)
3. Bryan Ramos, 3B
4. Edgar Quero, C
5. Jacob Gonzalez, SS
