The Oakland A’s placed infielder Chad Pinder on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring and selected infielder Nate Orf from their alternate site, the club announced today.

Pinder was batting .226 with two home runs and seven RBI in 23 games before injuring his hamstring in the first game of the doubleheader yesterday at Texas. He made his first 10 starts at second base, but his last two came at third base following the injury to Matt Chapman.

Orf was a non-roster invitee with the A’s this spring and batted .208 with five walks and a .345 on-base percentage in 15 games. He appeared in six games at third base, six at shortstop and three at second base. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter made his Major League debut with Milwaukee in 2018 and went 2-for-21 (.095) with a home run in 15 games with the Brewers. Orf spent the entire 2019 season at Triple-A San Antonio where he hit .272 with a career-high 11 home runs and 54 RBI in 125 games. He also had a career-high 65 walks and was hit by a pitch a career-high tying 22 times for a .399 on-base percentage.
