SAN DIEGO -- Cardinals catcher Carson Kelly was pretty in pink on Mother's Day.
"That's a lot of pink,'' Kelly said before Sunday's series finale against the Padres.
Kelly was a club leader in that color, going with that hue from head to toe. He was using a pink bat, like many other Cardinals such as Kolten Wong, Paul DeJong, William Fowler and Greg Garcia.
But only Kelly's body was covered in pink when catching Adam Wainwright's return to the rotation.
"I get to rock all the pink gear,'' he said.

Which likely puts a smile on Traci Kelly, Carson's mother, after she drove so many miles for her sons. Traci would back the car out of their driveway at their Portland, Ore., home and point it to various ballparks throughout the west.
"She has always been a supporter of taking me and my brother on baseball trips,'' Kelly said. "We would come down to California and play a lot of tournaments.
"She would take us to almost every game when dad was working. Then she would always be supporting us from the stands.''

Traci was in attendance for the first two games at Petco.
"It kind of felt like when she took us to games again when she was down here,'' he said. "With it being a few days before Mother's Day, it was pretty special.''
Among the best parts about it was that Traci didn't have to drive to her son's game.
"She flew,'' Kelly said with a laugh.
The Cardinals were also part of Major League Baseball's honorary bat girls program for Mother's Day, and Kathy Koke was selected as the team's representative in support of MLB's "Going To Bat Against Breast Cancer" initiative.
Koke, a St. Louis resident, is celebrating six years of being cancer-free, but she continues to donate her time to fight the disease.
For Mother's Day, all players wore newly designed caps with uniforms featuring a pink ribbon. Louisville Slugger will donate proceeds from the sale of their pink bats, which will be stamped with the MLB breast cancer awareness logo, to Susan G. Komen and Stand Up To Cancer, and MLB will again donate its licensed uniform royalties through Mother's Day apparel to Susan G. Komen and Stand Up To Cancer.
Brebbia out, Wainwright in
Right-hander John Brebbia was optioned to Triple-A Memphis to make room for Wainwright, who was activated off the 10-day disabled list for Sunday's start.
Brebbia took the loss in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to the Padres in 13 innings. He's 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA in six relief appearances.
