ST. LOUIS -- Doubly crushing about losing a pair of Cardinals legends in 2020 was that their lives had to be remembered in muted fashion, with the pandemic complicating any sort of full-fledged ceremony to honor Bob Gibson and Lou Brock.

But now, with Busch Stadium back to full capacity, the Cards have laid out a pair of days dedicated to the late Hall of Famers.

Lou Brock Night will occur on Aug. 20 ahead of the club’s series opener against the Pirates, the club announced on Wednesday. Bob Gibson Day will come just two days later, on Aug. 22, in the morning before the series finale.

Both days of remembrance will come on the Cardinals’ Hall of Fame weekend, when Tom Herr, John Tudor, Bill White and Keith Hernandez will be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame. And both ceremonies will feature members of the Brock and Gibson families, who will take part in the day’s festivities and then throw out ceremonial first pitches.

“One of the challenges during the last several months was determining a way to properly celebrate the lives and careers of these two Cardinals legends,” Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III said in a statement. “Although we remembered Bob and Lou with a limited crowd during the home opener in April, we felt our organization needed to provide another opportunity for a full-capacity crowd to honor these historic competitors and invite the Brock and Gibson families to Busch Stadium to show them how much Cardinals Nation loved Lou and Gibby.”

The Cardinals now have just one pick remaining unsigned from the top 10 rounds in the 2021 MLB Draft after Ryan Holgate (Competitive Balance Round B, Arizona) and Austin Love (third round, North Carolina) agreed to terms with the club, according to MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo.

Holgate, a left-handed power-hitting outfielder who was a 2021 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention, will sign for $875,000, per Mayo, just under the $906,800 slot value of the 70th overall pick. Love, a starter at UNC who profiles as a reliever, agreed to a bonus of $600,000, under the slot value of $657,600 for the 90th overall pick.

The club has not confirmed the figures.

Only high school right-hander Alec Wills remains unsigned among the Cardinals’ top selections. Taken in the seventh-round (211th overall), Wills was ranked the 130th Draft prospect by MLB Pipeline and will need to be swayed away from his commitment to Minnesota. The Cards have gone under slot with every pick so far but two (second-rounder Joshua Baez and fifth-rounder Gordon Graceffo).

• Johan Oviedo was pulled from Cardinals’ loss on Tuesday in the sixth inning because of the situation of the game, but he was also fighting a nail issue on his right thumb, manager Mike Shildt said. The Cardinals are not concerned about it lingering; Oviedo is slated to start Sunday’s series finale in Cincinnati.

• Citing the positive at-bats from Paul DeJong as of late (1.067 OPS in his last 19 games entering Wednesday) and citing Tommy Edman’s wonky splits (.236 average, two homers in 301 at-bats as a lefty vs. a .320 average, four homers in 75 at-bats as a righty) Shildt flipped the duo in the lineup against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks, now hitting No. 6 and 7, respectively.

• Yadier Molina, who owns a .550 OPS while starting all but two of the Cardinals' last 32 games, remained in the five-hole. Harrison Bader, with five multi-hit games and a .320/.382/.500 slash line in 14 contests since returning from the injured list, remained hitting No. 8.
