ST. LOUIS, Mo., July 15, 2024 – The St. Louis Cardinals continued their 2024 Major League Baseball Draft, selecting eight players on the second day of the three-day event. The Cardinals selections by position included four pitchers, two catchers, one third baseman, and one outfielder. It is the third consecutive draft where St. Louis selected all college players with its first nine selections.

The 2024 MLB Draft concludes tomorrow, July 16, with rounds 11-20 starting at 1:00 PM CT.

RHP Brian Holiday 3rd Round (80th overall) Oklahoma State University

  • Bats: Right Throws: Right Hometown: Tampa, Fla.
  • Height: 5’11” Weight: 203 lb. Age: 21 years old (May 29, 2003)
  • Sporting an old-fashioned high leg kick and 12-6 curveball, Holiday was a career 24-4 with a 2.63 ERA (253.2 IP), six saves, and 343 strikeouts in 55 games (33 starts) in three collegiate seasons between Oklahoma State University (2024), Central Florida Junior College (2023) and Florida Southwestern State Junior College (2022).
  • After transferring to Oklahoma State as a junior in 2024, he topped the Big 12 Conference with 128 strikeouts in 113.0 innings, ranking among NCAA Division I leaders in strikeouts (7th) and strikeouts/walk ratio (6.7, 7th).
  • Josh Holliday, older brother of Cardinals Hall of Famer Matt Holliday, was Brian’s Head Coach at Oklahoma State.
  • Pitched a two-hit complete game vs. Florida in the 2024 NCAA Regional on June 1, striking out 10 and tossing 131 pitches while opposing Jac Caglianone (No. 6 overall pick) in a 7-1 Cowboys win.
  • Transferred to Central Florida Junior College his sophomore season in 2023 and led national JUCO pitchers in strikeouts (141) and innings pitched (88.0). Finished 10-0 with a 3.07 ERA and one save in 17 games (16 starts).
  • Earned Most Outstanding Pitcher honors as the Patriots won the Junior College World Series. Struck out 23 batters over 9.1 innings while earning a win and a save.
  • As a freshman reliever at Florida Southwestern State Junior College in 2022, went 7-1 with a 1.20 ERA (52.2 IP), five saves, and 74 strikeouts in 20 games (1 start).

C Ryan Campos 4th Round (109th overall) Arizona State University

  • Bats: Left Throws: Right Hometown: Mesa, Arizona
  • Height: 5’9” Weight: 190 lb. Age: 21 years old (October 16, 2002)
  • Batted a career .369/.465/.554 (209-567) with 21 home runs, 40 doubles, 110 RBI, and 1.018 OPS in 147 games at Arizona State University. Worked 94 walks against 66 strikeouts.
  • Reached base in 137 or 147 career games at Arizona State, including 57 of 58 games his junior season in 2024.
  • His career .369 batting average as a Sun Devil was tops among all Division I catchers.
  • Twice named Pac-12 First Team as a Sophomore and Junior
  • As a junior in 2024, ranked among Pac-12 catchers in runners caught stealing (19) and defensive assists (43) In Pac-12 games. Earned his first All-America Honor (Third Team) from the ABCA/Rawlings, and was a Dick Howser Trophy Finalist, and Buster Posey Award Semifinalist.

LHP Braden Davis 5th Round (142th overall) Oklahoma University

  • Bats: Left Throws: Left Hometown: Keller, Texas
  • Height: 5’11” Weight: 175 lb. Age: 21 years old (April 9, 2003)
  • Career 14-9 with a 3.86 ERA (154.0 IP) and 198 strikeouts in 51 games (16 starts) over his collegiate career between the University of Oklahoma (2024) and Sam Houston State University (2022-23).
  • Was 9-4 with a 4.30 ERA (92.0 IP) and in 16 starts as the Sooners Friday night starter. Ranked 17th among Division I pitchers with team-leading 117 strikeouts.
  • 2024 All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 All-Tournament Team
  • Combined on the 9th no-hitter in program history, striking out a career-best 12 over 7.0 innings vs. West Virginia (March 22, 2024). Finished his outing with eight consecutive strikeouts.
  • Threw a complete game shutout vs. Texas Christian University in the Big 12 tournament, surrendering four hits with no walks and nine strikeouts (May 22, 2024). His complete game shutout was the 7th in conference tournament history and first since 2015 … Davis joined Jonathan Gray (2013) as the only Sooners to toss complete-game shutouts at the Big 12 tourney.
  • Pitched his first two seasons at Sam Houston State University (2022-23), going 5-5 with a 2.47 ERA (62.0 IP) and 81 strikeouts in 35 relief appearances.
  • Graduated from Keller (Texas) High School where he was a two-year letterman and led KHS to 2021 Class 6A state finals in his senior season.
  • Davis joins teammate Bryce Madron (10th round) and follows shortstop Dakota Harris (11th round of 2023) and catcher Jimmy Crooks (4th round of 2022) as Sooners selected by St. Louis in three consecutive drafts.

C Josh Kross 6th Round (171th overall) University of Cincinnati

  • Bats: Switch Throws: Right Hometown: Brunswick, Ohio
  • Height: 6’2” Weight: 225 lb. Age: 21 years old (February 2, 2003)
  • Career .347/.435/.644 (156-450) with 34 home runs, 32 doubles, 135 RBI, and a 1.080 OPS in 109 combined games between Cincinnati (2024) and Eastern Michigan (2023).
  • Batted .317/.438/.638 (70-221) with 19 home runs, 65 RBI, 14 doubles, 50 runs scored, and a 1.076 OPS in 57 games at Cincinnati. Was hit by a pitch 26 times, establishing a new single-season school record and ranking T-9th in NCAA Division I. His 19 homers were tied for 3rd-most in single-season school history and ranked 2nd in the Big 12.
  • Started all 57 games at Cincinnati (28 at first base, 23 at catcher, and 6 at designated hitter). Threw out six of 15 attempting base stealers.

  • Last name is pronounced “doo-CAN-itch” he prefers the suffix "the fourth" to be pronounced after his last name.
  • Was 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA (17.0 IP) and 20 strikeouts in nine games (two starts) in two seasons with Vanderbilt University (2023-24).
  • Missed the majority of both seasons at Vanderbilt due to hamstring (2023) and Tommy John ligament replacement surgery (2024).
  • Graduated from Brebeuf Jesuit High School in Indianapolis, where he finished 20-7 with a 1.38 ERA (173.0 IP) and school-record 320 career strikeouts

LHP Jack Findlay 8th Round (231st overall) University of Notre Dame

  • Height: 6’3” Weight: 220 lb. Age: 21 years old (August 18, 2002)
  • Career 10-4 with a 2.90 ERA (90.0 IP) and 108 strikeouts in 30 games (13) starts for the Fighting Irish over two seasons (2022-23).
  • Underwent Tommy John ligament replacement surgery in April 2023 and did not pitch in 2024.
  • In 2023, went 4-2 with a 3.79 ERA (40.1) and 54 strikeouts in 10 games (five starts).
  • Led the Irish in ERA (2.17) and saves (4) as a freshman in 2022.

  • Career .291/.424/.552 OPS (137-471) with 31 home runs, 30 doubles, 106 RBI, and a .976 OPS in 132 games between Texas Tech (2024) and Gonzaga (2022-23).
  • Batted .282/.450/.580 (53-188) with 15 home runs, 11 doubles, 55 RBI, and a 1.030 OPS in 57 games for the Red Raiders.
  • Named 2022 WCC Freshman of the Year and Baseball America Freshman All-American at Gonzaga, leading the Bulldogs in homers (10) and finishing 2nd in batting average (.298) and extra-base hits (16).
  • Also pitched in four games (three starts) in two seasons at Gonzaga, striking out 13 in 11.1 innings pitched.

  • Named a 2023 Big 12 Honorable Mention as a junior, batting .320 and leading the Sooners in RBI (51), runs scored (58), doubles (15), walks (61), and total bases (127)
