STL-CIN rained out; split DH Wed.

September 1st, 2021

CINCINNATI -- Tuesday’s scheduled Cardinals-Reds game was postponed because of rain and a forecast of steady showers.

The game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Wednesday. Game 1 will be the rescheduled game and is set to begin at 1:10 p.m. ET. The regularly scheduled series finale vs. St. Louis will begin at 6:40 p.m.

Both games will be seven innings. Because rosters expand to 28 players on Wednesday, the clubs will also be allowed to add a 29th man for Game 2 only.

The Reds will start Wade Miley in Game 1, followed by Sonny Gray in the nightcap. For the Cardinals, Mike Shildt said he will have right-hander Milos Mikolas start the day game, allowing J.A. Happ to stay in his normal rotation spot for Game 2.

Fans holding tickets for Tuesday’s game vs. the Cardinals may present their same ticket at the 1:10 p.m. game with no exchange necessary.
