NEW YORK -- Monday’s game between the Cardinals and Mets has been postponed due to inclement weather. The two teams will play a single-admission doubleheader on Tuesday starting at 2:10 p.m. CT at Citi Field. Game 2 will begin 30-40 minutes following the conclusion of Game 1.

Tickets for Monday's game will not be valid for admission to the makeup doubleheader; a digital voucher will instead be accessible Tuesday. Fans may exchange the voucher for a ticket comparable in price and location to another Mets 2022 regular-season home game at Citi Field (including Tuesday's makeup doubleheader), with some exclusions and subject to availability. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol wasn’t sure Monday who would pitch in that doubleheader, stating that he had to talk to John Mozeliak, the team’s president of baseball operations, before making the final decision. Right-hander Miles Mikolas was scheduled to pitch in Monday’s game.

The two teams will be meeting Tuesday for the first time since engaging in a brawl on April 27 in St. Louis. Marmol said warnings were not handed out by Major League Baseball on Monday.

In a contentious series last month, the Mets were hit by pitches six times, the worst of which came on April 26, when Pete Alonso was hit on the helmet by a pitch thrown by Cardinals right-hander Kodi Whitley.

But the tension between the two clubs reached a boiling point the next day, when Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado was almost hit by a pitch thrown by Mets right-hander Yoan López. The pitch was clocked at 94 mph, and Arenado took exception to it, challenging the Mets' pitcher verbally. Both benches emptied, but order was restored soon thereafter.

Marmol said he didn’t expect any carryover from last month.

“Honestly, I didn’t think about it until you brought it up,” the skipper told reporters before leaving Citi Field for the day.

Marmol also jokingly said that he wasn’t planning to use Albert Pujols out of the bullpen on consecutive days. During the Cardinals’ 15-6 victory over the Giants on Sunday, the veteran slugger made his pitching debut and allowed four runs in his only inning on the mound.

“We were not willing to use him on back-to-back days anyway,” Marmol said.
