Grichuk, Mayers, Voit join Cards from Triple-A
Fowler, Siegrist placed on DL; Huffman optioned to Memphis
ST.LOUIS -- The Cardinals have recalled outfielder Randal Grichuk and pitcher Mike Mayers and purchased the contract of first baseman Luke Voit from Triple-A Memphis. In corresponding moves, they have placed outfielder William Fowler (right heel spur) and pitcher Kevin Siegrist (cervical spine sprain) on the 10-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Chad Huffman to Memphis.
The moves were announced prior to Sunday's game against the Pirates. The team is seven games under .500 and has lost four consecutive home games for the second time this season.
Grichuk was optioned down to Class A Advanced Palm Beach on May 29, then sent to Memphis for the past 10 games. Mayers, also promoted from Memphis, made four appearances, including one start, for the Cardinals last season. Voit, a St. Louis native, is making his Major League debut.
