Ferguson recalled; Alexander (forearm) on IL
ANAHEIM -- The Dodgers added a fresh arm to the bullpen on Tuesday, recalling left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placing left-handed reliever Scott Alexander on the 10-day injured list with left forearm inflammation, retroactive to Saturday.
Ferguson was sent down on May 27 after struggling to a 5.94 ERA with the Dodgers. But in five games with OKC, he struck out 11 in six scoreless innings.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Alexander has been pitching despite arm discomfort since shortly after experiencing hamstring tightness in late April. The pain sharpened Monday night when Alexander was warming up, and he was unable to pitch in the 5-3 loss to the Angels.
“We’re prepared to do whatever we can to get Scott right,” said Roberts, who indicated the IL stint would include a Minor League rehab assignment.
Alexander has a 3.63 ERA and 1.385 WHIP in 28 games.
