Burlington Sock Puppets announce inaugural roster
Led By Jack McDowell, it's time to meet the Sock Puppets
BURLINGTON, N.C. -- The new era of baseball in Burlington announced earlier this year its new moniker in the Sock Puppets, a textile-heritage based identity, its first ever manager in Jack McDowell, the 1993 Cy Young Award Winner and 3x All-Star, and now they have a roster.
The Burlington Sock Puppets open their tenure at Burlington Athletic Stadium under the direction of former Major Leaguer Jack (“Black Jack”) McDowell. McDowell pitched for the Yankees, White Sox, Indians and Angels. McDowell was a three time All-Star with the Chicago White Sox from 1991-93, winning the Cy Young award in 1993. McDowell has coaching experience within the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization and Queens University in Charlotte, N.C.
The Sock Puppets boast a number of players with national acclaim. Adrien Figeuroa, Maui Ahuna, Oscar Serratos, Josiah Cromwick and Benji Gilbert ranked within the top players of their class.
With the Inaugural Season of the Sock Puppets, presented by Visit Alamance, debuting the new additions to the on-field look, get ready for some sockingly different off-field, fan experience additions, too. It all starts Saturday, June 5.
